Garden check up

It’s been a little while since the last post; I’ve been busy doing some pretty dull things (working, commuting, eating, etc) but also I have been combating the dreaded greenfly that has taken to eating my windowsill garden. I think we’ve managed to save the little green pepper, but it will be horribly disfigured for the rest of its life.

Last Stages

A lot has happened in the last two weeks; I handed in my notice, applied for lots of jobs, and got one, and started it. I’ve been a busy little bee. I’ve also been making my bestie her very own ray of sunshine, and I am finishing it today! How do you feel about that, First Draft?

The smile says it all. I’d better get cracking!

It is actually very easy to make a unicorn. All you need is an old white tee shirt, some wool for the mane and tail, and vague horsey shape to make the outline of it. At school I took Art:Textiles all the way to A Level, and I still can’t draw, so the unicorn is what I like to call “stylized”. If you come across this word, whoever’s using it might not be able to draw, either. Beware.

This is my first draft of the unicorn. When he’s finished he will join the other toys on my beanbag; a motley crew of misshapen mistakes that weren’t good enough to give away. I feel kind of sorry for him already.

I feel at my most creative around mid-morning, which is usually bad news, since that’s when I’m usually at work (weekdays) or outside (weekends) or still in bed (weekends) or in the shower (today). It’s now early afternoon, but that creative bug is still biting me, so I’ve decided to make a start on my bestie’s birthday present. She’s been pretty down lately so I figured the best thing to cheer her up would be… a unicorn! Because who can be unhappy when a unicorn gallops majestically across your living room? Or, more realistically, leans against the back of your sofa? Not me! And hopefully not my girl, either.

I found a lukewarm cup of tea on my table just now, and decided that since its owner has abandoned it, I might as well take a little gulp. And since I’m brewing a monster cold (every time I get a little tickle in my nose, I assume it’s swine flu and start giving away my possessions) it would actually be close to a crime to give it back. So now I’m drinking my boyfriend’s cold cup of tea.
